Kuwaiti Oil Minister arrives in Tokyo for Asian energy meeting

Ambassador to Japan Abdulrahamn Al-otaibi and other diplomats from the Kuwait Embassy received Kuwaiti Minister of Oil Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah how arrived in Tokyo Friday to attend a Roundtable Ministerial Meeting of Asian oil producers and consumers due here over the weekend.
Ministers or high-ranking officials in charge of energy resources from 21 countries and three international organizations discussed energy-related issues, which are of special concern to Asian governments. The talks focused on boosting investments which have been sunken amid global recession and falling oil prices and stabilizing the oil market.
The 3rd Asian Ministerial Energy Roundtable Meeting comes when oil prices have fallen sharply after setting a record of USD 147 per barrel last July as the global crisis dampens demand for the fuel, trading in the USD 48 level Wednesday in New York.
High on the agenda gathering include enhanced cooperation between oil exporters and consumers in the Asian region, which accounts for 40 percent of total world energy demand, the ministry said.
The energy leaders are also discussed the ways of possible governmental measures to promote human capital interaction, such as human resource development in energy fields and sharing examples of cutting-edge projects. Participants in the meeting, co-chaired by Japanese Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Toshihiro Nikai and Qatari Oil Minister Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah, also include Bahrain, Iraq, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Turkey, Brunei, Indonesia, China, India, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.
In addition to Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), representatives of International Energy Agency and International Energy Forum will take part.
Sheikh Ahmad hold talks with Asian oil and energy ministers, as well as representatives of Japanese companies.
