Kuwait and Japan to seal the memorandum of cooperation (MOC)

Kuwaiti and Japan made an agreement on the peaceful use of nuclear energy for further cooperation. The memorandum of cooperation (MOC) was signed by Dr Ahmad Bishara, Secretary General of the Kuwait National Nuclear Energy Committee (KNNEC), and Mr. Katsuhiro Hosoi, Director General of Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of JAPAN, with the presence of H.E. Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Otaibi, the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Japan, as well as H.E. Mr. Yasuyoshi Komizo, the newly appointed Japanese Ambassador to Kuwait.
The MOC, covering comprehensive agreements such as the exchanging expertise, human resource development and nuclear safety, provides a framework for Japan to contribute to Kuwait’s introduction of nuclear power generation.
H.E. Mr. Al-Otaibi praised the deal for strengthening the existing friendly bilateral relationship between Japan and Kuwait as one of the kick off events for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Kuwait Japan diplomatic ties in 2011. He also showed the deep appreciation for the valuable efforts from both sides as well as for Kuwaiti Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah in realising the MOC.
