H.E. Ambassador Al-Otaibi delivers a speech at the International Framework for Nuclear Energy Cooperation (IFNEC)
Kuwait Ambassador to Japan H.E. Mr. Abdul-Rahman Al-Otaibi and Mr. Faraj Al-Hajeri, the Third Secretary, attended the 6th International Framework for Nuclear Energy Cooperation (IFNEC); Reliable Nuclear Fuels Services Working Group And Workshop on “Cradle to Grave” at Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) in Tokyo. On behalf of the Kuwait National Nuclear Energy Committee (KNNEC), H.E. Al-Otaibi proposed Kuwaiti full support for multiple and multilateral approaches to front and backend of the nuclear fuel cycle. Mr. Yves Kaluzny, Chairman of IFNEC, agreed on H.E. Mr. Al-Otaibi’s proposal and showed the great anticipation of Kuwait’s partnership. Representatives of fourteen countries along with Mr. Yves, and Mr. Gary Dyck, Section Head of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), attended the meeting and exchanged their views on Nuclear Fuel Services.
The IFNEC (former the Global Nuclear Energy Partnership) was established for the purpose of urging and developing international cooperation over nuclear fuel recycle system, and Kuwait has been attending the IFNEC meetings as an observer since 2008.
