Kuwait, Japan sign two agreements – Amir meets Japanese PM

HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the delegation accompanying him visited Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda at the cabinet’s headquarters in Tokyo yesterday. During the encounter, both parties discussed ways to strengthen the special relations shared between Kuwait and Japan in various fields, and to serve common interests as well as strengthen the existing cooperation between the two countries.
They also exchanged a number of issues of mutual interest and latest developments on the regional and international arenas. Friendly relations between both countries’ people were reflected during the encounter, portraying a depth of understanding and friendship that characterized good relations. Later, Noda held a dinner banquet in honor of the Amir and the delegation accompanying him at the Cabinet’s headquarters.
Two agreements were also signed between Kuwait and Japan to encourage investment and to promote academic exchange. The two agreements were signed in the attendance of Sheikh Sabah and Noda. One agreement dealt with encouraging and protecting investments. It was signed by Khalid Sulaiman Al-Jarrallah Undersecretary from Foreign Ministry and Ryuji Yamane Japan’s Parliamentary Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs. The other agreement was signed with exchanging academic expertise between Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) and Japan’s Advanced Institute for Materials Research at the Tohoku University. It was signed by KISR Director Dr Naji Al-Mutairi and Tohoku University’s research center director
