Kuwait Ambassador donated a traditional Kuwaiti dress to Bunka Gakuen University
H.E. Mr. Abdul-Rahman Al-Otaibi, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Japan and his spouse Madame Jamilah visited and donated a traditional Kuwaiti dress to Bunka Gakuen University.
Bunka Gakuen University leads Japan’s research and development in the fields of not only fashion and art design but also clothing and living environment. Mr. Sunao Onuma, Chairman of the Board and President of Bunka Gakuen University and other executives welcomed the Ambassador and Madame warmly.
The type of dress donated by the Ambassador and Madame is called “Al-Mankhous” and has two embroideries on the front and back. It is made of chiffon silk. Women wear this dress on special festive occasions such as weddings, religious birth ceremonies and national celebrations. The dress is now displayed at their museum as their first Arabic Costume.
During the meeting with Mr. Onuma, the Kuwait Ambassador and Madame expressed their willingness to further deepen the bilateral relationship between Japan and the State of Kuwait through such cultural exchanges.
